Today is another furlough day so I’ve decided to go visit my friend G. I dropped the kids off at their respective schools and drove out to see him. I rarely do something just for myself, but I knew that if I stayed home by myself that I would obsessively clean it. The status of the house is better than usual so I decided to treat myself to a nice outing. It rained like cats and dogs on the way there, but by the time I returned home it wasn’t raining anymore.
I am grateful I took the time to do something that wasn’t “doing” anything in terms of a finished product. I was giving myself permission to BE. It was great. I didn’t want it to end.
There is a shop I visited before I picked up the kids that sells Annie Sloan paint. The shop offers classes on the chalk paint technique so I am hoping I will be able to make it to one soon. Before I repaint my husband’s old dresser, I want to make sure I can actually use the paint correctly. Otherwise, I might use my elbow grease and just repaint it the old-fashioned way.
